From Fanball: "June 6, 2005 4:44 PM ET Rockies: Barmes breaks clavicle, out three months The News Rockies shortstop Clint Barmes will miss at least three months after breaking his left clavicle in a fall at home, the team told the Associated Press on Monday. Barmes fell Sunday night at his home while carrying groceries up a flight of stairs. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday. Our View Fanball cannot confirm if a grocery preventative injury clause will be added to further Barmes contracts. Whether the Rockies call up a shortstop remains to be seen, but a possible solution will likely have them calling upon Eddy Garabito, Luis A. Gonzalez, and Desi Relaford to fill the void. On another note, that National League Rookie of the Year race that we all thought was over has effectively re-opened."

unbelievable. who was it, a few years ago, that fell in the shower and hurt their arm? was that glavine? and then somebody hurt their back (david wells?) carrying a suitcase up a flight of stairs.
we should compose a top-10 list of bizarre injuries. |

Kind of like Griese supposedly tripping over his dog. What is it about Denver?
This does stink. I have Barmes in 2 leagues and this is a huge loss. In our Mr. F league, it shouldn't surprise me -- I've had more injuries in the first 2 months than I have ever had in fantasy baseball (especially because my 3B Chipper Jones also went on the DL yesterday). |

| I have to decide if I can afford to hold on to him in a league. I have Prior and Schilling already so I don't think I can...we only have 1 DL spot. Luckily, I already have Feliz and Figgins at SS. |

With Feliz and Figgins, I agree -- I'd let Barmes go. At best, he'll only be back for September, and at that point, the Rockies will be 40 games out -- they may decide just to let him recuperate the entire year. |

Didn't Glenallen Hill injure himself somehow when he was dreaming about spiders?
I'm pretty sure I didn't just make that up.
I agree with LT - let him go.

| Thanks for the advice...I dropped Barmes and picked up Patterson. I need some more IPs because I have 5 RPs (KROD, Urbina, Street, Ryan amd Reitsma). I actually was having a hard time getting everyone in the lineup. |

Good memory, Crash. You're right -- supposedly he had a bad dream about spider, started sleepwalking and fell through a glass door, cutting himself up. |
