Wide Receivers

By Mr. Fantasy

BIG QUESTION MARKS:
Brandon Marshall is probably the biggest question mark in all of football as the season opens. Will he have something to prove? Will he give a half-hearted effort? Will he even show up in Cincinnati? He's a must-sit in Week 1 while we try to get a handle on all this ... Donnie Avery has been pointing to Opening Day ever since breaking his leg in the preseason. Let's see him have a healthy game before considering him for our fantasy lineup ... Nothing kills fantasy success for a wideout more than a hamstring injury. Bernard Berrian (Vikings), Anquan Boldin (Cardinals), Kevin Walter (Texans) and Deion Branch (Seahawks) open the season limping around because of one. They need to prove themselves healthy before they debut on my fantasy team.

LOVE THE MATCHUPS:
The Lions have little chance of competing at New Orleans, but being down 31-7 in the fourth quarter has its advantages. The coverage figures to loosen up on Calvin Johnson at that point, allowing Matthew Stafford to throw a late (but not meaningless) touchdown of two. Look for big things from Johnson ... When the Colts last saw the Jaguars, Peyton Manning burned them for three touchdown passes, one to Reggie Wayne, who also went over 100 yards. You're obviously going to play Wayne, but this could be a nice week to get Anthony Gonzalez in there as well ... Falcons games should be high-scoring for the most part this season, which means always considering Atlanta's opponents for your fantasy lineup. Ted Ginn gets a nice opportunity to show this is going to be his break-out season. Depending upon the strength of your options, you could roll the dice with him. And here's a bonus: Ginn will be returning kicks this season, so you might luck into something there, too.

BE FOREWARNED:
If any game has "shutout" written all over it, it's Kansas City at Baltimore. There'll be times to put Dwayne Bowe in your lineup, but this isn't one of them ... If I had Roy Williams on my roster, I'd wait until he had his first big game (presuming he ever has one) before considering him for a starting spot. Sit him Sunday at Tampa Bay ... Chaz Schilens (Raiders) and Chris Henry (Bengals) had their moments in the preseason, but both enter the season injured. If either was your sleeper selection, let him rest ... The Redskins and Giants both have deep receiving corps, but neither has a standout. Let's see one emerge before taking a chance on any of these guys.
