| Dave Del Grande is an all-sports columnist for The Oakland Tribune, the birthplace of fantasy football. He began participating in fantasy football and baseball in 1977, and began spreading his wisdom to the masses in 1990. |
What makes Dave "Mr. Fantasy"?
When ESPN decided to take a crack at fantasy football in the mid-1990s, it contacted Dave to be its first columnist. The rest, shall we say, is history.
When KNBR Radio in San Francisco was looking to boost its nighttime ratings more than a decade ago, it asked Dave to co-host a weekly hour-long show devoted exclusively to fantasy sports. It was the first of its kind and spawned copycat efforts from coast to coast.
And when nationally renowned newspapers such as the Newark Star-Ledger, The Daily Southtown and the Albuquerque Journal wanted to tap into the fantasy craze, they approached Dave about syndicating his column to all parts of the country.
Above all, Dave is "Mr. Fantasy" because of his endless promotion of the fantasy game. This Web site, mrfantasy.com, is one of the few these days in which all the draft ratings and weekly player rankings are free. Mr. Fantasy wouldn't have it any other way.
